OUR MISSION
our mission is to provide RETREATS OF respite to cancer patients, their caregivers, and families and to encourage healthy living for all.
Respite Retreats creates an environment focused on fun, relaxation, and self-care. We support the healing of the body, mind, and spirit.
IT’S TIME FOR HEALING FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY.
We know a cancer diagnosis affects the entire family. Our 501(c)3 organization was founded with a fierce determination to let everyone affected by cancer take a break.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Cancer affects our physical, mental, and spiritual bodies. Conventional treatment is invasive and life-changing, to say the least. That’s why we offer patients an experience of uplifting and therapeutic activities to disconnect from everyday life with cancer. This allows them to focus on healing, cultivate personal introspection, and experience a deeper connection with themselves and their loved ones.
Often, we have found that caregivers don’t take the necessary time to care for themselves because they want to be available for their loved one fighting cancer. Including caregivers in our retreats gives them the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate while still being close to their loved one. Gifting the caregiver respite gives them a reboot in energy so they can return to their caregiving duties refreshed and ready to give their best.
Unfortunately, family members, such as children or siblings, are often unintentionally neglected or forced into a caregiver role that they are not qualified or prepared for. By participating in fun group activities with other children facing similar challenges, we believe they will feel less isolated and receive the much-needed support they deserve. One-on-one holistic therapies will also be offered to family members based on their age and need.
While the retreats will primarily focus on taking the participant’s mind off of life with cancer, we will have qualified practitioners on staff to provide tools to help cope with the many emotions that accompany the situation.
